In 2016, BAIC Motor acquired 35 per cent shares of Fujian Benz Automotive Co., Ltd (Fujian Benz) that was held by Fujian Motor Group and Fujian Benz became one of BAIC Motor joint ventures. Based on the Beijing Benz passenger cars, Fujian Benz layouts the sector of high-end commercial vehicles, improves the northern and southern production base strategic layout for Benz complete vehicles, to consolidate the leading position of BAIC Motor in China market. Now Fujian Benz produces and sells three series of Mercedes-Benz cars - V-Class, New Vito and Sprinter. V-Class cars are successor of Viano while New Vito are updated versions of Vito.
